Are there any entry requirements for the Countdown?
As it is a lapped course we have not stipulated any entry requirements, but we would expect all entrants to be experienced runners. If you’ve had dreams of completing 100 miles though, this could be the race for you. Most DNFs in 100 mile races are due to pacing and going out too quickly; our race structure will help with this!
Why is the Countdown only open to solo competitors?
To fit with the nature of the event. It is designed to be tough and a test of strength of mind, body and spirit.
What previous experience do people need to enter the Challenge?
As it is a lapped course no previous experience is required, though we would recommend that you are an experienced runner to enter.
Is there a compulsory kit list?
The only compulsory kit is a headtorch. These will be compulsory for all laps starting between 7pm and 6am. Runners will not be allowed to start laps without one. Runners will need a cup for refreshments – disposable ones will not be provided. Other kit is advisory and includes a mobile phone, water, survival blanket, waterproofs and warm layers. Further details will be sent out nearer the event.
Can I run with my dog?
Much as we love dogs, the answer is no – the course and style of the event are not suitable.
Is there space for my family / supporters?
Supporters are welcome to visit the Estate during the event. We have limited spaces for additional camping, and these need to be booked on the SiEntries site. Adults will be charged at £10 per head and children at £5 for the two nights. We stress that these are limited, and our advice is to book this at the time of entry, as once they are gone, we are unable to accommodate any additional campers.
When can we arrive?
Camping will open at 6pm on the Friday evening.
Are substitutions allowed?
Yes, for both the Countdown and the Challenge, and these are managed by the person who makes the initial team entry via SiEntries up to one week before the event.
What is the policy for refunds?
Refunds of 50% of the entrance fee paid will be offered up the 31st May 2019. No refunds will be available after this date, although substitutions will be.
